Workplace Training Classes

If you’re in need of workplace employee training in the Mobile, AL or surrounding Gulf Coast area, Coastal Emergency Medical Skills can help.  Our workplace programs are designed for non-healthcare workers and meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines.  Onsite group classes available upon request.  Be sure to contact us for discounted group rates.

All courses listed under Workplace Training are open to anyone in the community.

The classes listed below are taught on a regularly scheduled basis. If you are in need of a specific class that is not listed below, be sure to contact us. In most cases, we will be able to meet your training needs.

HEARTSAVER® CPR-AED

Course Description: The HEARTSAVER® CPR-AED course teaches lay rescuers how to recognize and treat life threatening emergencies that involve the adult victim. Upon the completion of this course, the student will be able to recognize the signs and symptoms and treat a victim who may be experiencing a Heart Attack, Choking or has progressed into Cardiac Arrest. Teaching the basics of CPR and how to use an AED could make the difference in someone’s life. (Optional modules that cover Infant and Child CPR are available.)

Course Length: 3-4 hours

Certification Period: 2 years

Intended Audience: This course is designed for employee training at companies, corporations, businesses or other entities. For employees and/or designated first responders who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements.

HEARTSAVER® First Aid

Course Description:  The HEARTSAVER® First Aid Course teaches how to manage illness and injuries in the first few minutes until professional help arrives.  Course content includes General Principles, Medical Emergencies, and Injury Emergencies. Optional topics include CPR, AED and Environmental Emergencies.

Course Length:  2-3 hours

Certification Period:  2 years

Intended Audience:  This course is designed for employee training at companies, corporations, businesses or other entities.  For employees or designated first responders who have a duty to respond to a first aid emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements.

The American Heart Association mandates each student must have the book to attend training.

HEARTSAVER® Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP)

Course Description:  The HEARTSAVER® Bloodborne Pathogens course teaches employees how to protect themselves and others from being exposed to blood and body fluids, as well as, what to do in the event of an exposure.  Designed to meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for bloodborne pathogens training when paired with site-specific instruction.

Course Length:  1-2 hours

Certification Period:  2 years

Intended Audience:  Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens is designed for anyone with a reasonable chance of coming into contact with bloodborne pathogens such as correctional officers, security guards, maintenance workers, childcare workers, school personnel, hotel housekeepers, health and fitness club staff and tattoo artists.

The HEARTSAVER® First Aid CPR and AED

Course Description:   The HEARTSAVER® First Aid CPR AED course combines basic CPR skills training with instruction and practice in using an AED.  Topics covered include, first aid basics, as well as, medical, injury and environmental emergencies.

Course Length:  4 hours

Certification Period:  2 years

Intended Audience:  Heartsaver® courses are for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in first aid and/or CPR AED to meet job, regulatory or other requirements.

HEARTSAVER® Pediatric First Aid

Course Description:   This course teaches child care providers, parents, grandparents, educators and others critical skills and the knowledge needed to respond and to manage illness and injuries in the child or infant until emergency medical services arrive.  Designed to meet the regulatory requirements for child care workers in all 50 states (US).  The course covers first aid basics, including finding the problem, stopping bleeding, bandaging, relieving choking, using an epinephrine pen, as well as, child CPR AED, Infant CPR.  (Optional modules are available that cover asthma-care training for childcare providers and adult CPR AED.)

Course Length:  varies dependent on modules taught.

Certification Period:  2 years

Intended Audience:  This course is designed for childcare / daycare providers, parents, grandparents, nannies, babysitters, teachers, other educators, as well as anyone responsible to care for children.
